Has anyone listened to Kevin Costner's band Modern West? They have some really good music in their (so far) only album called Untold Truths. Here is my favorite song of them, well part of it anyway, called Long Hot Night:

Here's another gem, called Superman 14:

The band is doing a European Tour early next year, and when I read in the news that they were coming to Sweden I mentally booked my tickets right away :lmao: Kevin Costner is one of my favorite actors of all time, so even if the band sucked I would jump on the opportunity to meet/see him :thumb:

They're making a second album that they hope will be released in time for the European Tour. They're also coming to Germany, Spain, FInland, Luxembourg, Poland, Denmark & France on their tour.

Well, I got back home a few hours ago...

The show was GREAT! They really went all out last night. The seats were about four fifths full, pretty closed to sold out so they had a good crowd to begin with. Before Modern West entered, we got to hear a young womans songs first, apparently she was married to one of the guys in the band. She was pretty good too, played an awesome version of Billie Jean.

Before the band came out, there was an awesome compilation of footage from Kevin Costner films that lasted a good five minutes. Every time there was just a glimpse of The Bodyguard, the women in the crowd went INSANE with screaming

When the montage was over people in the back started screaming, we looked back and there he was! He entered in the back instead with spotlights on him and people screaming their lungs out. He stopped pretty much after every step he'd taken and hugged girls in the audience. What amazed me was that there was just as many teens/young adults being crazy about him that there was middle-aged women. I didn't know he still made the young girls wild to this day. Two young girls even had special t-shirts made that said Kevin on one and Costner on the other.

We had much better seats than I thought we did BTW, we couldn't have wished for better seats. 5th row and center.

After studdying his path, I soon realised he'll most likey pass by me on his way to the stage. I realised this when he was about 15 yards away from me. I quickly acted upon this and when he was within reach, I reached out my hand to him. He grabbed it faster than an Irishman grabs a free beer and shook it real tight. There were lights everywhere so at first I looked down when reaching my hand for his to make sure I placed it perfectly for him to grab a hold on. When he did, I looked up and he was looking at me, smiling big and then all of a sudden winked at me!! I smiled back and the moment (which felt like 3 hours, apparently Kevin Costner is so awesome that he can officially stop the time whenever he wishes to) was forever imprinted in my memorybanks. He shook my friends hand too, but didn't wink at him, which makes it all the more awesome (for me!)

While on stage, he began expressing his grattitude to us fans for all the love & support we've been giving him all these years, then talked about how he got this band together. When the show started I was so star struck I couldn't care if they played one song and then took the hell off. Luckily they didn't though, they brought the house down and had people on their feet all night long. They played for a good 2 hours and the interaction with the crowd was great. He took a minute inbetween almost every song to talk to the crowd, sharing stories, what influenced the song they were about to play and so on. You could see he loved being on that stage, he had quite the presence. Touring have done good things for him, he has seriously slimmed down from how he looked in Swing Vote (not that he was ever very overweight or anything).

He joked that he understood the guys were there because they were forced to attend by their girlfriends "What?? We're going to see who perform??" etc, I just hope he realises he has a lot of male fans as well (it was about an 8/10 female ratio in the audience). After two songs he told us that we could do whatever we wanted, it was our home, we could come up closer, take pics and so on. Two minutes later it was FLOODED underneath him, about 50-75 people were standing there taking pics, singing & dancing. They stood there until the show was over.

After the "last" song, the band left the stage and then like so many other bands re-appeared when the audience wouldn't stop clapping their hands and did two more songs. They had a new CD released just 3 days before the concert, so I got to hear a lot of new songs, including a duet with the girl that did the set before they appeared. After they did their 2 songs he opened up a champagne bottle and had some champagne while a song was playing in the background, don't know which one except the chorus had "Champagne" in it. After that he asked three ladies up to dance with him for a couple of seconds on three different occassions. He gave them a kiss when the dance was over, the last girl grabbed her a kiss too, which was pretty funny.

I was so happy and still am about not only seeing him live but also shaking his hand! I could have been exposed to an hour of "The Hills" later on and still fall asleep with a smile on my face.

Anyway, here are some pics of the event:

Nice to know that you had such a special night! According to the local press the show wasn't as big success here in Finland as it seems to have been in Sweden. But it was well recognized by the media. So maybe next time the concert will be sold out due to the fact that Kevin's band is better known by people. I didn't even know he's making music until I heard about it after his concert in Helsinki Ice Hall.

P.s. Since I was very interested in Indians as a child (the way they lived, respected nature, animals included) I really loved Dances With Wolves in the beginning of the 90's. I still do.

Prostitute in Jail: Attica's a men's prison!
Dorothy: I know. I was there a year before they found out.

Yeah, that's one of my all-time favorite movies, definitely in my Top 5. Too bad it didn't go as well in Finland, maybe next time.
